To celebrate the 18th edition of the European days of crafts, under the theme "Sur le bout des doigts", our workrooms opened their doors to the general public, schools and associations from April 4 to 7. A unique opportunity to highlight the richness of our upholstering trade and our ancestral savoir-faire.
During these days, we orchestrated visits offering participants a privileged insight into our upholsterer's craft, as well as into our workrooms where our craftsmen bring to life bespoke pieces of furniture and unique window treatment for our customers, who include renowned interior architects and designers. Visitors had no idea there was such a workroom here in Villeurbanne, and all were impressed by the large, light and airy spaces.
Introductory upholstery workshops enabled participants to learn specific techniques and discover the materials used by upholsterers in their daily work. They could choose to make a velvet bedspread with our seamstresses, or a key ring using leather, or tiebacks with our upholsterers. These moments of exchange raised awareness of the importance of craftsmanship in preserving our cultural heritage.
During the same week dedicated to arts and crafts, the 2nd edition of the Mirabilia biennial took place at Lyon's Carré Fourvière, located in the prestigious 9th arrondissement, a renowned tourist destination in the city. Nearly thirty uniquely talented artists took part in the event, including ceramists, felt makers, straw markers, glass sculptors, caban artisans and jewelers. As partners, our workrooms had the honor of presenting the famous Panthère armchair, the result of a collaboration with Studio Parisien.
