“Decorating is intimate and personal. As a designer, you have to be able to let go of your ego and design a personalized space that is going to reflect the people who live there”

This haven of peace, renowned for its pristine beaches and exceptional properties, sees some homeowners moving away from traditional aesthetics to explore bolder designs. This was the case for a retired couple, owners of a residence in Sagaponack, who initially approached the Fox-Nahem agency to redesign their main bathrooms. But a true alchemy developed between the clients and the architect over the course of the project, resulting in a complete reinterpretation of the Hamptons spirit with a bold and unique approach.
The outside of the house sets the stage: a pool, a pool house, and numerous outdoor spaces, with the landscaping done by Joseph Tyree. When Joe Nahem's teams were chosen to furnish the entire residence, their main goal was to create an atmosphere that was both warm and inviting, while highlighting the couple’s art collection.
The large living room reveals a neutral color palette that creates a calming harmony. A fireplace, sculpted by Marble & Stone Creations and inspired by the woven textiles of Windy Chien, majestically stands in the room. Commanding attention at the heart of this space, is a spectacular double-sided wooden sofa, designed by Caleb Woodard and carefully upholstered by our New York-based craftsmen. It converses with a sculpture by REM Atelier and pieces by Esteban Jefferson, adding an artistic elegance to the room. To dress the large bay windows, our decor seamstresses crafted and installed large suspended floral curtains, draped from a straight brass rod with matching rings.
Upstairs, in the master bedroom, only the exposed beams adorning the ceiling were preserved. Our seamstresses crafted wave-headed curtains, suspended from a wooden rod integrating a rail. Thanks to a system of sliders fixed at regular intervals on a supporting thread, the curtain flows smoothly, creating regular and harmonious pleats. This space also features a custom-made bed and padded panels installed by our craftsmen, shaping an elegant headboard. In this same room, Joe Nahem selected a pair of AME Natural armchairs, with expressive fibers that bunch together and drape over the outer backrest. These armchairs are the result of a collaboration between the Paolo Ferrari Studio and Japanese textile artist Hiroko Takeda.
