"It was a sheer delight to work with Romain Jouffre & his team to realize my project in West Village, New York. They give such care to each piece and attention to detail. They believe in perfection – in an imperfect world! Needless to say I cannot wait to work on our next project together."
> Visit websiteBy weaving a thread between the owner's history and the city's light, designer Aamir Khandwala completely revived an apartment nestled in the canopy of the flourishing Madison Square Park. This 1,000m2 apartment features a blend of textures, colors, and cultures drawn from the Pakistani-born designer's love for travel and his passion for art. Known for his personalized approach that he brings to each project, Aamir works closely with his clients to understand their needs and tastes in order to create unique spaces that reflect their personality and lifestyle.
Aamir’s clients wished to start a new chapter for her apartment, by selectively integrating memories from her past. Our New York-based workrooms had the opportunity to take part in this adventure alongside Aamir Khandwala and design numerous drapery and upholstery creations.
In a former bedroom transformed into a multimedia room, one can discover a corner sofa as well as a set of seats manufactured by our Maison. Our craftsmen covered the upholstery of the sofa and its decorative cushions in a wool and linen fabric by Toyine Sellers. As for the asymmetrical stools, one can particularly admire the contrast between their white oak legs and the cushioning upholstered in an Italian burgundy leather from Garrett Leather. The entire furniture set rests on a large beige mohair rug commissioned by Alt for Living studio. Finally, to accentuate the warm feeling of the space and the travel-inspired theme of the project, our installers put up a wall tapestry in a Robert Kime fabric. After assembling the different fabric lengths with great precision to ensure their patterns align seamlessly, the piece shows geometric patterns inspired by Ottoman embroidery.
In the primary Bedroom, a collection of remarkable pieces can be spotted, such as leather nightstands by Christina Z. Antonio and an abstract painting by artist Giorgio Cavallon. Hints of pink are scattered throughout the room and serve as a guiding thread. Our upholsterers have crafted a wave-shaped headboard, adorned with a silk fringe from Samuel & Sons, along with its upholstered frame in a velvet from the London-based Claremont studios. In the same room, we have also restored the upholstery and covering of a curved sofa, adorned with its decorative cushions embroidered by the French maison Combray Designs. Finally, to bring a lively touch to the decor, our seamstresses also had the opportunity to work on the project. They crafted and installed several draperies, such as blinds and sheers, to decorate the apartment's windows and ensure the owner’s privacy.
