The architecture and interior design agency GRADE New York, led by Thomas Hickey and Edward Yedid, envisioned a family residence in Palm Beach, emphasizing art, with numerous furnishings and collectible pieces that evoke a coastal and contemporary atmosphere.

This 500-square-meter vacation home is built around a swimming pool and an outdoor entertaining area, all nestled within lush vegetation, with the beach just a short distance away. Designed to meet the practical needs of a growing family with children and grandchildren, the primary goal was to instill a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Thus, Hickey and Yedid opted to use soft textures from the seaside palette, including shades of coral, blues, and warm tones.

The walls have been plastered with Venetian plaster, creating the perfect backdrop to showcase the owners' artworks. The living room is centered around a large sectional sofa upholstered in a sublime blue fabric by David S. Gibson, crafted by our artisans. Due to its impressive size, the sofa had to be assembled and finished directly on site. Its size and comfort create the perfect invitation for the family and successive generations to gather. The GRADE teams decided to pair the sofa with vintage armchairs and ottomans by Joseph-André Motte, one of the great figures of French design in the 1950s and 1960s, as well as a bespoke credenza of furniture for games and toys.

In the bright lounge area of the office, you'll find vintage armchairs paired with our Shell chair, upholstered here in an exquisite weave by Tara Chapas. Its solid white oak shell was machined by our partner and chair joiner Souchet Woodwork in the heart of Liffol-le-Petit in the Vosges. The seats join other remarkable works, such as a enameled ceramic side table by Pierre Yovanovitch and a wall sculpture and a coffee table resting on glass legs by Mathieu Lehanneur. Our installers used their time-honored, lavish skills over several weeks to install upholstery on all the walls of this office and the master bedroom. The master bedroom also features other creations by our American teams, such as roman shades to cover the windows and ensure the owners' privacy, and a bespoke bed bench, dressed in a beautiful soft white linen fabric by Maison Pierre Frey.
